BOURBONNAIS-Martellus Bennett has been fined and suspended indefinitely by the Bears. Bennett was involved in a brief scuffle with cornerback Kyle Fuller during practice Monday. Bennett threw Fuller to the ground after Fuller tackled him high around the helmet.

The Bears say Bennett is being punished for 'conduct detrimental to the team.' The decision to discipline Bennett seems to stem from more than simply Monday's incident, but the Bears coaches and GM Phil Emery aren't providing any more details.

"We're working with Martellus. We are in contact with him", says Emery. "Our goal is to have Martellus back as soon as possible."

"We've all reached out to him. We all care about him.  We all love the guy," said Jay Cutler after Tuesday's practice. "He works extremely hard out here. So going forward we just hope that we get him back sooner rather than later."

Bennett remains part of the Bears' active roster, but he was not at Olivet Nazarene University where the Bears hold camp on Tuesday.
