Jeffery Flying To The Eagles

LAKE FOREST - The Bears won't have a chance to resign Alshon Jeffery on the free agent market. He quickly accepted a deal elsewhere on the first day of free agency.

According to multiple reports he has agreed to a one-year contract with the Eagles worth $14 million.

Jeffery earned $14.6 million last season with the Bears while playing under the 'franchise' tag. He sat out four games serving a suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. He had 52 receptions for 821 yards and two touchdown catches.

Jeffery had two monster seasons in 2013 (89 rec., 1,421yds., 7 TDs) and 2014 (85 rec., 1,133yds., 10 TDs), but injuries hampered him the last two seasons making the Bears reluctant to sign him to a big-money, long-term contract.

He joins an Eagles team badly in need of receiving weapons for second-year quarterback Carson Wentz.
