Bears Waive Lynch

LAKE FOREST-Jordan Lynch won't make the Bears opening day roster. He is one of five players the Bears let go of Friday. That reduces the Bears roster to 70. It has to be down to 53 by Saturday afternoon.

Lynch was signed by the Bears in May as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Illinois University. He played quarterback at NIU, and he finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting after setting several NCAA rushing records for a quarterback.

The Bears moved him to running back when he arrived a rookie camp. He was also used extensively on special teams during the summer and during the preseason.

Lynch might still have a future with the Bears. He could be one of eight men signed to the team's practice squad on Sunday. His versatility at being able to play several positions could work in his favor.

The Chicago Bears waived the following player:
Jordan Lynch RB Northern Illinois
The Bears also terminated the following vested veterans:
Armanti Edwards WR Appalachian State
Jeron Mastrud TE Kansas State
Dennis Roland T Georgia
Robert Turner C/G New Mexico
