ROCKFORD-If Jay Cutler goes down with an injury next season, the Bears won't have Josh McCown to bail them out. McCown signed a two-year contract with Lovie Smith's Tampa Bay Buccaneers Wednesday. McCown will reportedly make ten million dollars over the two years with another five million dollars possible in incentives.
That price was too steep for the Bears. Plus Smith has said that McCown will go into next season as the Bucs' starting quarterback.
McCown had a 109 passer rating last season when he filled in for Cutler. That was the third highest quarterback rating in the NFL.
