GREEN BAY-One day after resigning B.J. Raji, the Packers made an even bolder move Saturday to bolster their defensive line. They've signed former Bear Julius Peppers to a three-year contract. ESPN reports the deal is worth up to $30 million. Peppers is expected to make $8.5 million in 2014.

Peppers was released by the Bears on Tuesday when they decided his hefty contract wasn't worth the declining production they were getting from him. He had 7.5 sacks last season, his fewest in four years with the Bears. Peppers has 118.5 sacks in his career.

He is 34 years old. He's the first big name free agent the Packers have signed since Charles Woodson in 2006.
