Kristin has always had a passion for weather, ever since she was little growing up in Oklahoma. She always wondered why some storms had tornadoes and others didn’t, and you could always find her outside on the porch if a storm was coming.
Even though she had to move a lot when she was younger, the Stateline area has always been home to her family. After graduating from Hononegah High School, she attended Rock Valley College. She then continued on to Northern Illinois University where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology and a minor in Broadcast Journalism in 2013.
While in school, Kristin interned at WGN- TV in Chicago and at WIFR in Rockford. She was also a dancer and promoter for both the Rockford IceHogs Ice Crew and the Rockford Lightning. Kristin is excited to be back in her hometown, and to continue being involved in the Rockford community. When she’s not working on her forecasting skills, she loves to spend time with her family and friends. She also enjoys cheering on her favorite teams; the NIU Huskies and the Rockford IceHogs.
