ROCKFORD - Thursday night a brief ceremony was held to recognize the progress that has been made on the domestic violence front in Rockford.

The 17th Judicial Circuit Court held the 12th Annual Shining the Light on domestic violence even tonight.

Officials say the ceremony is important to give the community faith that authorities and law enforcement are making efforts to address the issue, "That's what we're trying to do today; bring it to the attention of the public that we are making efforts to address this problem in our community, and we're coordinating efforts among judiciary, law enforcement and social workers to address the issue," explained Joe Bruce, Associate Judge in the 17th Judicial Court.

A candle light vigil was also held to mourn, support and celebrate victims and survivors of domestic violence.
