ROCKFORD - A local man is sentenced to 20 years in prison.
James Taylor, 21, was convicted of being an armed habitual criminal and aggravated discharge of a firearm. Judge Gary Pumilia laid down the sentencing Thursday.
It stems from an incident last March. Taylor and another individual entered Mosey's Grocery and Liquor at 4203 W. State Street. The two men were masked and armed with handguns. Taylor pointed a .38 caliber revolver at employees and started shooting. However, an employee retrieved a gun and fired back, wounding Taylor.
Police arrived to find Taylor lying the floor.
