Bears Fan Fined For Tasing Wife As Part of Bears/Packers Bet

WTVO/WQRF - A Chicago man gets a slap on the wrist for tasing his wife after the Bears beat the Packers in a regular season game.

UPDATE (1/15/14): Grant is fined $250 after pleading no contest to disorderly conduct.

UPDATE (11/11/13): Police have released the video of the incident.  After seeing it, investigators determined Grant's wife did agree to be tased.  However, he's still charged with felony possession of an electronic weapon, which is illegal in Wisconsin.

MAYVILLE, WI - The rivalry between the fans of the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers has always been intense, but perhaps never this shocking.

John Grant, 42, faces a felony charge of possession of an electric weapon.  He used a taser on his wife an alleged three times after she bet the Packers would win Monday night's showdown.  Grant told police she agreed to let him use the taser on her if the Packers lost.

She claims she never agreed to that bet.  But, cell phone video of the incident appears to show her giving consent.

Both people were legally drunk.  If convicted, Grant could spend up to six years in prison.
