The construction of a scenic overlook is complete over Grove Creek in the Seward Bluffs Forest Preserve. The location is one of Winnebago County's oldest forest preserves.
Officials say it had become a bit of an eyesore, but thanks to a donation from the Atwood family, it will now draw stateliners looking for somewhere to spend special occasions.
"Nobody would have thought of having say a wedding at this site before it was improved, but now with this improvement, you know, it becomes something that they might think of doing," said Tom Hartley, Director of Land & Development with the Winnebago County Forest Preserve.
Officials say the location is a popular destination for fishing, camping, hiking and picnicing.
