21-Year Old Rochelle Man Remembered One Year After Crash

Family members gather tonight in Rochelle for an emotional vigil to pay respects to a 21 year-old man. One year ago today he was killed by a hit and run driver. Eyewitness news attended the vigil and is here with more.
ROCHELLE - Family members gather tonight in Rochelle for an emotional vigil to pay respects to a 21 year-old man. One year ago today he was killed by a hit and run driver.

It was a hard time for the friends and family of 21-year old Caleb Holder, as they reminisced today during the vigil near the scene of last years crash. The crash happened June 19, 2013. Police say holder was riding his motorcycle south bound on Illinois 251 near Lakeview drive in Rochelle. He was struck from behind by a car driven by his 40-year old co worker Erick Steffins of Rochelle. Steffins left the scene leaving holder in the middle of the road. He was later arrested.

Holder’s family says their son played a large part in the community and was a positive influence on others. “We are celebrating the fact that we did have 21 years with our son, that he was a great person, and everyone just all around, everybody loved him. Holder leaves behind a fiancé, his mother and father, brother and friends.” Said Rhonda Holder
