RPS Offers First Evening Community Input Session

ROCKFORD - The district giving parents who work during the day their first opportunity to share their opinions on consolidation plans.
ROCKFORD - RPS continues to give affected residents a voice towards the district's consolidation plans.

Another community input session was held Tuesday night at Rockford University. This one being the first held during the evening.

Residents had complained that previous sessions were held when many parents had to work. Officials say it's important to give the entire community an opportunity to weigh in.

"This is a huge, monumental event for the community," says 5th Ward Alderman Venita Hervey. "If you look at the number of school closings and where they're taking place, it's huge and we want to make sure the community as a whole, a very diverse group, gets their input."

Another evening session will be held Wednesday at 6:30 at Auburn High School.
