FREEPORT - School leaders vote in favor of a pair of proposals that will affect a number of students.
The first involves school buses. The district had been approached by the Dakota School District to handle transportation for its students. The board voted unanimously to approve a three year deal to bus Dakota students. The move will save Dakota $100,000 per year.
It's not a done deal yet though.
The Dakota School District has to vote in favor of the deal. A vote on that is expected at its February 24th meeting.
Also, Freeport school board members made a change in policy in regards to student transfers within the district. Parents can now request a transfer to a school outside of their attendance area.
