DeKalb Police Shoot and Kill Man Wielding Knife

Man was reportedly in act of stabbing parents when officers confronted and killed him.
DEKALB -- A DeKalb police officer shot and killed a man reportedly armed with a knife while answering  a disturbance call on Tuesday.

Police say they were first called to a residence to check on the well-being of someone when during the course of their investigation, dispatchers called a relative and heard what appeared to be a disturbance in the background.

Officers then were dispatched to 1020 Quail Run, where they along with a Northern Illinois University Police Officer entered the home, where they witnessed a man attacking family members with a knife.

A DeKalb officer shot and killed the man, identified as 28-year-old Cameron Lupton.  57-year-old Carl Lupton and his wife Charlotte were taken to a nearby hospital with several stabe wounds.  They are expected to survive and are cooperating with investigators.

The Illinois State Police will conduct an independent investigation regarding the use of deadly force.
