Friend of Johnston Speaks Out

Now that the Stephanie Johnston case has been reopened, her friends say it's time to talk about the person she really was, not who some have speculated her to be.
ROCKFORD, IL--Now that the Stephanie Johnston case has been reopened, her friends say it's time to talk about the person she really was, not who some have speculated her to be.

Kimberly Parham is upset at the notion that her best friend, Stephanie Johnston, was partying the night she went missing.

She says Johnston and their group of friends were not the party girl types--contrary to what investigators have let on.

"That’s not the truth, that's not the case. It was a school night; she wasn't a partier, that wasn't what her group of friends was about,” said Parham.

At the time, Johnston was dating accused double murderer Terence Doddy. Parham says she's always thought Doddy could've been involved.

The Winnebago County sheriff's department has said that they cannot comment on whether Doddy is or is not a suspect at this point.

But something leaves Parham unsure.

"I know they broke up and when she did disappear, my thoughts were of, you know, him interacting in that something happening,” said Parham.

Furthermore, she says, “just because of who he was, I can't pin-point it specifically about his behavior, but yea."

The Johnston case is actively being investigated by the Winnebago county sheriff's office.
