ROCKFORD -- Winnebago County Sheriff's Department investigators say they can find no information linking accused double-murderer Terence Doddy to the death of a high school friend.

The investigation into the death of 15-year-old Stephanie Johnston in 1993 was re-opened after Doddy's arrest for two recent murders. Doddy and Johnston had reportedly dated for a short time, and friends had for a long time suspected that he had something to do with her death. Johnston's body was found in the Rock River. The cause of her death was drowning.

An investigation by the Sheriff's Department and Coroner's office could develop no new information on Johnston's death. It remains classified as drowning by an undetermined manner.
