Long Time Police Officer Terry Peterson to Retire

Rockford - Terry Peterson retires after 31 years on the Rockford Police Department.
ROCKFORD -- Another long time Rockford Police Officer is leaving the force. 

After more than 31 years of service, Terry Peterson is retiring. He tells Eyewitness News, however, he will  stay on as president of the Rockford Police Union. The union recently filed  a  formal complaint against Police Chief Chet Epperson over his involvement in a welfare check last October . Peterson says his last day on the force will be July 8th.

Deputy Chief Lori Sweeney announced this week she's retiring July 7th.
