STILLMAN VALLEY - The Meridian School Board names their new superintendent.

At a special school board meeting Wednesday afternoon they named P.J. Caposey to the job. He was previously serving as Stillman Valley High School's principal and an assistant superintendent to the school district.

Before that he was the principal at Oregon High School, leading the school to many accolades including being named one of America's top high schools in 2012 by U.S. News.

He says he now looks forward to advancing the Meridian Schools, "I'm very focused on the students, and I'm progressive. So, I want to know how we can truly create an environment that brings our students into the 21st century, because that might be an area we're lacking a little bit. How we can work to form partnerships that way our kids are not only college ready, but career ready."

Caposey says he's honored and humbled to be promoted to the new position.
