Authorities say Bradley H. Wohrley of Dixon was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife Mary A Wohrley was riding with him in their 1957 Chevrolet and was transported to Rockford Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
Stephenson County officials say that James R. Battisti of Freeport was driving a white colored vehicle northbound on Route 26 when he crossed the center line and struck the vehicle. Battisti was taken to FHN Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, but authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a medical incident being the cause of the crash.
