New Partnership Between Rockford's Airport and Rock Valley College Takes Flight

ROCKFORD - The partnership between the GRAA and RVC will help build a new state-of-the-art facility.
ROCKFORD - A new partnership between Rockford's airport and Rock Valley College takes flight.

In a move to promote economic development, the Greater Rockford Airport Authority and Rock Valley have teamed up to expand RVC's aviation maintenance technology program.

In the proposed deal, the GRAA would lease land to the college and build a state-of-the-art facility to house course study. The school says, for one, it would make things much easier on students.

"It means they will have more options as far as when they can take the classes, and how we can better structure our program to better suit their needs. A lot of them have to work around jobs at this point in time, so hopefully we can make that a little easier for them," said Mark Adolphson, chair of Rock Valley's aviation program.

Rock Valley says the larger facility will allow them to double or even triple the amount of students in the program.
