North Boone Co. Teachers Reach Tentative Agreement with District

Agreement will avert strike called for March 3rd.
POPLAR GROVE -- It's looking like no strike in North Boone Co. Schools.

The North Boone Board of Education and The North Boone Education Association say they have come to a tentative agreement for a new contract for the 2013-2014 through the 2016-2017 school years.

Details were not released, but will be published on the district’s website after ratification by both parties, which should happen within the next few weeks.

Board of Education President Don Ward said in a news release, “The District is successfully managing its finances and its priorities during difficult economic times. One of the challenges in negotiating this contract was to balance prudent fiscal management against the strategic goal of attracting and retaining outstanding educators. We remain strongly supportive of our excellent teaching staff.”

The negotiations had been going on for nearly a year, and teachers had authorized a strike for Monday, March 3rd.
