Orange Barrel Alert! Work on State St./I-90 Interchange to Start Again

Road crews will finish work started last year.
ROCKFORD - Uncompleted work to rebuild the State Street interchange with I-90 will start up again on May 12th.

Crews will finish the ramp rebuilding project which started last year by completing drainage and storm sewer pipe work as well repaving the area which connect the ramps to State Street.  The good news is that unlike last year, all ramps will remain open during construction.

The Illinois Tollway Authority says traffic entering eastbound I-90 from westbound State Street will be shifted to the left while the pavement on the right is removed and replaced with new asphalt.  Traffic will be shifted to the right so work can be completed on the left side.  Traffic exiting from I-90 to westbound State Street will be shifted while the pavement connecting to State Street is removed and replaced.

Up to 12,000 vehicles use the Business U.S. Route 20/State Street Interchange daily.
