Victim Identified In 11th Street Car Accident

ROCKFORD - Police identify the woman killed in a traffic accident over the weekend.
UPDATE (2/3/14): Police identify the victim as 50 year-old Gladys Aguayo.  Investigators say Aguayo lost control of her Hyundai Elantra because of road conditions and hit a snow bank.  She then exited her car and was either standing or walking in the road when a Jeep Grand Cherokee hit her.  Police aren't identifying the woman, only saying she's a 35 year-old Rockford resident.  No charges are being issued against the Cherokee driver at this time.

ROCKFORD -- A 50-year-old woman pedestrian struck and killed Saturday night may have been walking the area because her car became stuck in a snow bank.

Police arrived at the scene of the 3800 block of 11th St. at around 10:30 to find the woman dead.  They say she had apparently gotten out of her own car and was either walking or standing in the roadway when she hit by a car traveling southbound.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
