UPDATE: Squirrel Causes Morning Power Outage

UPDATE: ComEd officials determine the cause of Friday morning's power outage.
UPDATE: ComEd reports power to all customers was restored at 10:40am.  The cause of the outage was a squirrel running on the power lines.

UPDATE:  Power to Walker School has been restored.

ROCKFORD -- A power outage is in impacting traffic signals at Spring Creek and Highcrest Rd, and Spring Creek and Parkview.   Police are on the scene to provide traffic control, however, the driving public  is encouraged to use an alternate route if possible.

Walker school is also without power, but students and staff are remaining in class and are said to be fine.

The source is reportedly a damaged power line nearby, impacting more than 600 customers in all.  Com Ed crews are working to resolve this issue and anticipate to have power restored by by 10:00 AM.
