ROCKFORD - The city releases which streets will be closed for Saturday's St. Patrick's Day parade.
This year's parade will go along a different than in the past. The parade will start at 7th St. and 4th Ave, proceed north on 7th to State, then west to Main St., then north on Main St to Memorial Hall.
Road closures will begin at 2pm, one hour before the parade starts. Streets that intersect with the route will be closed.
Police traffic control will be on 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, and Wyman. Cars can pass periodically, but drivers are urged to find alternate routes.
Also, Illinois State Police are ramping up its patrols of the roadways to keep drunk drivers at bay. All weekend long ISP will conduct roadside safety checks to catch anyone who may be driving drunk.
