Rock Valley College designated as a "Right Skills Now" Institution, one of only 10 in the nation. It allows students to gain technical manufacturing training and college credit at the same time, essentially bridging the gap between school and career.
RVC officials say it should help fill the need for skilled workers in the stateline.
"To be able to move up in the organization or just to enhance their skills for technical jobs they might require, so this is an opportunity for all of that to be able to happen," says RVC interim president Mike Mastroianni.
RVC says 125 students have gone through the program so far, but that number should triple this fall. That means they'll likely add faculty.
