UPDATE: Police Have Suspect In Attempted Child Abduction Case

ROCKFORD - Police have the man they believe is behind Monday's attempted child abduction.

UPDATE (2/27/14): Rockford Police officers located the suspect and his vehicle near the intersection of Chestnut and Stewart Wednesday.  However, police are not identifying the suspect nor has the Winnebago County State's Attorney's office filed any charges.  Police are no longer searching for the Green Chevrolet pickup truck.  The investigation is on-going.

ROCKFORD - A man attempts to lure young girls into his car with candy.

The incident happened at 10:14am near Elm and Howard, just blocks away from Ellis Arts Academy.  Police say a white man in his 40s tried luring the girls, all between the ages of six and nine, into his truck with candy.

The girls, however, refused the offer and the suspect drove away.

Police describe the suspect's vehicle as a 90s green Chevy pickup truck.  The suspect was wearing a baseball cap and black jacket.  He was also seen earlier Monday morning in the 200 block of S. Central Ave., in the area of Ellis Arts Academy.

If you have any information you're urged to call Rockford Police or Crimestoppers.
