ROCKFORD - Stateline drivers are paying about the same for gas as the rest of the country.
According to GasBuddy.com, prices here in Rockford stayed flat at $3.34 per gallon, while it went up nationwide by five cents, also settling at $3.34 per gallon.
"After weeks of relative stability with little change in gas prices nationally, we've seen a new trend develop that has sent the national average to its highest level since mid-October" says Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. "Very few stations have gasoline under $3/gal... expect those few stations will all but dry up over the next couple weeks."
DeHaan predicts as we approach the summer driving season, gas prices could rise as high as 50 cents.
