DEKALB - Time can not dim the tragedy of the Cole Hall shooting at Northern Illinois University.

DEKALB - Time can not dim the tragedy of the Cole Hall shooting at Northern Illinois University.

A moment of reflection was held at 3:06pm.  A bell rang five times, symbolizing the victims who died that day: Gayle Dubowski, Catalina Garcia, Julianna Gehant, Ryanne Mace, and Daniel Parmenter.

"NIU is committed to remembering and honoring the spirit of the cherished Huskies lost that day" says NIU President Doug Baker.  "The bells serve as a reminder of the, 'Forward, Together Forward' spirit of our students and community.

Friends and families of the victims laid wreaths and flowers next to five marble slabs dedicated to each of the fallen.

"[It's] a tragedy that shook the entire nation" says Gov. Pat Quinn.  "We will never forget the pain and sadness that we all felt when tragedy hit home."

The NIU Scholarship Office also announced the winners of the "Forward, Together Forward Scholarship."  The fund was created in honor of Dubowski, Garcia, Gehant, Mace and Parmenter.
