"What's exciting is that this is really going to tap into an area that we heard from our residents we needed variety more activities. And, it's really for teens and for our youth from about five to twenty-two, said Laura Williamson, Deputy Director at the Rockford Park District.
From zip lining to bike trails even snow boarding. There's something for every season and everyone.
"Any age group can participate in not only the snow tubing but we're also going to be adding zip lining, said Williamson.
Construction already began last fall on the 52 acre adventure park. Starting with the five hole golf course. Even though the whole facility won't be finished until next year. Some activities like the zip line course will be ready this summer.
"We're very excited because it's a year round sport that doesn't necessarily have to rely on the weather."
And with the Olympics still fresh in a lot of people's minds, Williamson said she's hopeful the next great Olympian will get their start there.
"When we were starting to design it we were told that a lot of young athletes this is were they begin to train and they learn the craft of these types of activities to maybe go on to be the next Olympian.
