ROCKFORD - The Literacy Council gets a big boost in funds Monday.

Jersey Mike's presenting its check from its "Day of Giving." On March 26th, the restaurant vowed 100% of its proceeds from that day to the local charity.

Monday, they presented a check for $9,650 to the organization. They say it's all about helping the community, while providing good food.

"It comes full circle," said Frank Tarara, Rockford Jersey Mike's owner. "Our product is outstanding, and we know if we can push the people through the doors, and help the community at the same time, we're going to help the Literacy Council get some money, and we're also going to put some good food in people stomachs."

The Literacy Council is a not-for-profit that offers services and classes at no cost to adults.
