Trial Underway for Accused Murderer Kody Walsh

ROCKFORD -- The man accused of killing a Wisconsin woman and then leading police on a week-long manhunt is now standing trial.
ROCKFORD -- The man accused of killing a Wisconsin woman and then leading police on a week-long manhunt is now standing trial.

24-year-old Kody Walsh is accused of shooting Lori Daniels in the head. Monday, The court heard opening statements and testimony from two witnesses.

Wild dash-cam video of the chase Kody Walsh allegedly led police on kicked off day one of his trial. Walsh is accused of flying down IL-251 from South Beloit  to Rockford after he allegedly shot and killed 36-year-old Lori Daniels.The whole time, her body strapped into the front seat.

"All Lori Daniels wanted was a ride home, instead she got a bullet to the head not one, but two," said Marilyn Hite Ross, Winnebago County Assistant State's Attorney.

Now, a clean cut Walsh stands trial for first degree murder. A charge his attorney told the jury during Monday's opening statements, he doesn't deserve.

Kody walsh has been the subject of accusations and whispers saying he killed lori daniels, saying that he is a murderer but today for the first time the whole story will start to come out.

Part of that story involves walsh's friend Ebert Davison He took the stand Monday saying he was "freaking out" after Walsh allegedly shot Daniels. He said he screamed "what did you do?" over and over at Walsh before Davison was eventually kicked out of his own truck at gunpoint and Walsh fled.

Walsh was eventually arrested in Tennessee. Day two of his trial continues Wednesday morning.
