Investigators say Bargman was found with her head in a toilet. Investigators didn't provide an official cause of death for Bargman. However, they did say she drowned and was choked.
Doddy is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday afternoon to hear the new charges against him.
ROCKFORD (7/22/14) - Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato and Lee County State’s Attorney Anna Sacco-Miller have scheduled a joint Press Conference for 11:30am on Tuesday, July 22nd. Although no topic was announced, the presumed reason is to discuss the prosecution of Terence Doddy for murders in both Winnebago and Lee Counties.
Doddy has already been indicted and pleaded 'not guilty' (see story below) for the murder of Todd Hansmeier. However, Doddy has not yet been formally charged in Lee County with the death of 44-year-old Tonya Bargman, who was killed as she left the restroom at an I-39 rest stop near Paw Paw. Doddy was captured driving Bargman's stolen car.
Bruscato has broached the idea to 'Eyewitness News' of a possible joint prosecution between the two counties.
'Eyewitness News' will be at the news conference and will have updates as they become available.
ROCKFORD -- Terence Doddy has pleaded 'not guilty' to 15 criminal counts in Winnebago County Court. They include:
11 counts-1st degree murder
1 count-Possession of a stolen motor vehicle
1 count-Possession of another person's credit card
1 count-Concealment of homicidal death
According to the criminal complaint (see above) on the murder charges, Doddy struck and then stabbed Todd Hansmeier to death. He is also charged with attempting to conceal the death by trying to burn his body.
The arraignment occurred after Doddy was indicted by a Grand Jury, but paperwork from that indictment is not yet available.
