On August 29, 2014 at 2:59pm Rockford Police and Fire Departments responded to a roll over injury accident in the 2800 Block of Kilburn Avenue. Upon arrival, three males were located laying outside of an overturned Chrysler minivan. Rockford Fire Department personnel transported all three males to local hospitals.
Witnesses reported that just prior to the crash the minivan was eastbound on Kilburn Avenue traveling at a high rate of speed. All three occupants of the minivan were ejected.
The driver of the minivan was identified as 40 year old Jimmie Dean Nelson of Rockford. He was pronounced dead by hospital staff shortly after arrival. The other two occupants are identified as 55 year old Dale Nelson and 53 year old Donald Ray Nelson, both of Rockford. Both men remain in serious condition at local hospitals. All three men are reported to be siblings.
Preliminary investigation shows that high speed and alcohol are contributing factors to the cause of the accident. This crash is still under investigation by the Rockford Police Traffic Unit
