VIDEO: Rockford Hit and Run Sends Victim To Hospital

A Rockford man is nearly killed just months after another deadly accident occurred in the same area.

ROCKFORD - A Rockford man was left for dead after a hit and run accident on the city's West side. 

On Thursday August 7th, police responded to the 3300 block of N. Main St. around 2am and found 55-year-old Robert Hill lying in the roadway with what are said to be life threatening injuries.

This happened less than two months after another man was killed in the same area.

In June, 2014, 54-year-old Scott Doolen was killed after he allegedly climbed onto a tow truck that was pulling his vehicle away from a nearby bar. He then fell onto the pavement.

Residents say more police presence is needed in the area, especially at night.  Business owners are also concerned about their safety in the neighborhood.

UPDATE (2:36pm): Rockford Police identify the victim as 55-year-old, Robert Hill.  He is still in serious condition.


ROCKFORD - An overnight hit and run leaves one man in the hospital.

It happened in the 3300 block of N. Main Street around 2am.  Police received the call after three passers-by found the male victim lying on the street bleeding.  Police are not releasing much more information at this time.
