DIXON - Much needed renovations are coming to the Dixon Correctional Center.
The state announced it'll provide $1.1 million for the prison. It'll go to replacing the roofs of several buildings, including the inmate housing units and the CAT Building.
"The construction project will address critical maintenance issues at this key Department of Corrections facility" says Gov. Pat Quinn (D-IL). "It will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy as well."
"This capital investment helps to ensure it will be an efficient, viable facility for years to come" says Rep. Tom Demmer (R-Dixon).
The project is part of the governor's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program.
