ROCKFORD - A new holiday tradition taking shape in downtown Rockford.

Dozens of volunteers from Heartland Community Church busting out the large-scale holiday decorations on state street this morning.

Oversized ribbons, garland and white lights-- all part of the "Stroll on State".

Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau organizers say the ornaments and the holiday tree will make visitors to downtown feel like the spirit of Christmas is all around them.

"I think people will be able to come downtown, shop and dine, have a good time at do it in a festive atmosphere. Downtown will be lit up, the Christmas tree is lit and decorated and they'll really be able to celebrate."

"Stroll on State" begins with the lighting of the tree on November 30th at 6:15. Decorations will remain up through January.
