Man Pleads Guilty to Murder Charges for Role in Marie's Pizza Shooting

Desmon Bellmon will be sentenced in December for 1st Degree Murder.
ROCKFORD -- One of the four men involved in the Marie's Pizza shooting has pleaded guilty to 1st degree murder. 

25-year-old Desmon Bellmon attempted to rob the pizzeria along with Lamar Coates, Brandon Sago, and Michael Sago Jr. on October 1, 2011.  During the armed robbery attempt, an off-duty Winnebago County Sheriff's deputy grabbed a weapon and fired, killing Sago Jr.  Under Illinois law, any death during the commision of an armed robbery is eligible for 1st degree murder charges.

Bellmon will be sentenced on December 9th.

Lamar Coates has already been tried and convicted for his role in the armed robbery attempt.  His received a sentence of 40 years in prison for his murder conviction.
