Marie's Pizza Robber Gets 37 Year Prison Sentence

Brandon Sago was sentenced for 1st Degree Murder conviction in robbery which led to death of cousin.
ROCKFORD  -- One of the men involved in the Marie's Pizza robbery has been sentenced according to Winnebago County State's Attorney Joe Bruscato.  24-year-old Brandon Sago was sentenced to 37 years in prison First Degree Murder.

Sago was one of four men who entered the store in a robbery attempt back in 2011.  One of the robbers, Michael Sago Jr., was killed by an off-duty Sheriff's deputy during the robbery.  Under Illinois law, Sago can be convicted for 1st degree murder for a death in the commission of felony even if he was not the one who pulled the trigger.

Bruscato say Sago could have faced as much as 75 years in prison for the crime.
