LEE CO. - Some of the money Rita Crundwell stole from the city of Dixon is finally back where it came from.
The U.S. Marshals Service transferred $9.2 million to Dixon. The funds will be applied to the restitution ordered by the court to pay the city in the 2012 fraud case.
Crundwell is currently serving 20 years in prison for wire fraud. Thursday's payment is just a portion of the $53 million Crundwell stole. Dixon also received $40 million from three accounting firms who looked over the city's finances.
