PORTER, WI (WTVO) -- Police in Rock County say they've found human remains inside a burn pit at a home in Southern Wisconsin that could be the body of Aprina Paul, 18, who was reported missing on Friday. The discovery has turned a missing person's case into a death investigation, but police say more forensic testing will be needed in order to identify the body and determine if it is that of Paul.
Rock County authorities were led to a house in 12000 block of West Highway 14 after questioning Nathan Middleton, 29, on Friday
"We were able to obtain in a short amount of time bone fragments, which we felt could be human," Sheriff Robert Spoden of Rock County said. "We then started on Friday and Saturday, we continued to excavate that site as well as a couple of other areas on the property."
Middleton has not been charged at this time, but authorities say he remains in custody pending further investigation. Other people are also being questioned and police say other items of interest to the case have been recovered in the home and on the property.
