Rockford Fire Crews Respond to West Side Kitchen Fire

A house fire on Rockford’s west side kept crews busy tonight.

ROCKFORD- Firefighters received the call around 5 P.M. in the 800 block of Albert Avenue. Neighbors say they saw fire coming from the kitchen of the home and they quickly called 911. They also report there's smoke damage inside of the home.

"I thought he was in there and I happened to look out my window and I said ‘oh his car is gone so he's okay,’" explained neighbor Deanna Allan.

The Rock River Chapter of the American Red Cross is now assisting the residents who live where the fire took place.

"A resident needed Red Cross assistance and when we get a call like that we respond and make sure that the resident has a safe place to stay," said Red Cross Volunteer Jan Anderson.
