ROCKFORD - One week after seeing a rise in gas prices, the price to fill up is getting a bit easier for drivers.
Albeit, not by much.
The average price in the Forest City is now $3.35/gal, that's three cents lower than last week and one center lower than what the rest of the nation is paying.
"Oil prices were within an arms reach of dropping under $100/barrel last week" says Patrick DeHaan, Senior Petroleum Analyst at GasBuddy.com. Prices "haven't yet crossed that line just yet."
DeHaan also says gasoline futures may be more volatile this week. Now that the government shutdown is over, the Energy Information Administration can release its data about supply and demand for the last two weeks.
"It may have an impact on the direction of gasoline prices in the days ahead."
