City of Rockford Chooses Newest Alderman

ROCKFORD - The city council voted in its newest Alderman.

UPDATE (11/5/13): The city council voted during Monday night's meeting to accept Marcus Hill.  He'll be sworn-in during next week's council meeting.

ROCKFORD - The city is one step closer to filling a vacant seat on the council.

Mayor Larry Morrissey (I) appointed Marcus Hill to fill the seat vacated by former 6th Ward Alderman Vernon Hilton.

Hill still has to be voted in by fellow council members to officially become the alderman.  That is expected to happen during next week's meeting.  Hill is currently the site manager of the Safer Foundation, an organization that helps re-integrate offenders into society.

The 6th ward seat was vacated in September when the freshman Hilton resigned and moved to Texas.
