The annual Illinois Stand Down event provides various services for vets as a token of thanks. They were treated to free hair cuts, clothes, and food. One World War II veteran says it's nice to see the community celebrate our men and women in uniform because he believes our veterans of today are often ignored.
"People just love their soldiers" says Army veteran Tiofilo Quinonez. "They took them in the house and fed them, took care of them, gave them a free ride. But, everything has changed now. They don't care about the soldiers no more."
Several agencies teamed up to make the Veterans Stand Down event a success.
