The EigerLab information technology roundtable highlighted two initiatives. Through them, officials said the community will attract more high-tech talent which will boost business.
Sometimes it's as simple as creating an app, which is an idea that's been tested and proven successful in Chicago.
"One of those apps is 'Foodborne Chicago' which actually listens to Twitter," said Christopher Whittaker, Code for America. "So if you tweet something out that's like, 'hey I ate at this restaurant and now I don't feel so good,' we'll actually tweet you back, ask you for more details, and we'll send a food inspector out to the restaurant based on your tweet."
The next tech savvy event is the "Hackathon" on November 16th. $15,000 will be given away to projects that help benefit the City of Rockford.
