WISCONSIN - The state urges caution for ATV riders.

According to the Dept. of Natural Resources, there've been 18 deaths this year.  The number matches the output for all of 2009.

"Wardens anticipate even more ATV and UTV use this weekend as hunters hit the woods and trail riders are out enjoying the emerging fall colors" says Conservation Warden Todd Schaller.

Schaller says there are three things linking all 18 fatalities: speed, no helmet, and alcohol.

The victims of the accidents are as young as nine years old and as old as 77.

"These have been tragic, painful losses for families and friends of those victims."
