Bears Sign Former Notre Damer Clausen

The Bears are bringing in Jimmy Clausen to compete for a backup quarterback spot.
LAKE FOREST, IL –The Chicago Bears have signed QB Jimmy Clausen to a one-year contract and waived LB Lawrence Wilson.

Clausen started 10-of-13 games during his four-year NFL career with the Panthers (2010-13) after being selected by Carolina in the second round (48th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. All 13 appearances came in 2010 when Clausen completed 157-of-299 passing attempts (52.5 percent) for 1,558 yards, three touchdowns and nine interceptions. He added 57 yards on 23 rushing attempts that season.

Wilson spent the 2013 preseason with the Bears and the last seven weeks of the regular season on Chicago’s practice squad but did not appear in a regular season game. He has also spent time with Carolina (2011), Tennessee (2012) and New Orleans (2012) but has not appeared in a regular season contest.
