Marshall & Jeffery Aim High

Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery push each other to bring out the best in each other.
BOURBONNAIS-The image of the Bears as a physical, pound-it football team, that's old school. The tandem of Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery has given the Bears one of the NFL's most exciting offenses, and most likely the league's best receiving duo.

Last season the duo combined for 189 catches for 2,716 yards and 19 touchdowns. Their numbers this year could top those.

"Oh we're going to be better," says Marshall. "There's good competition here. People would think that Alshon and I we're just starters, but in that relationship we push each other."

The pair is heading into its third season with the Bears, but Marshall has nine years of NFL experience, and a young buck like Jeffrey keeps him going.

"He's going to extend my career. He's extending my career," says Marshall. "I'm not going to let this young kid beat me. I want to beat him in every single sprint."

Jeffrey had 89 receptions last year for 1,421 yards, second in Bears history behind Marshall.

"It's competitiveness," says Marshall. "Like him and I talked earlier why settle for second when you can be number one. Who wants to be remembered as number two?"

But with this deadly duo, there's room for two at the top.

"It's great for both of us. We want to be the best. We want to be, every year we want to be the greatest receiving corps in the league," says Jeffery.

"I think this is the best receiver corps I've ever been involved in from top to bottom," says Marshall. "Every single guy can play."

There's no doubt in their minds that with this offense, a Bears Super bowl is in the cards.

"We need to get back to the Super Bowl. This organization and this city deserve the Super Bowl, and I think we're primed and ready to do that," says Marshall.

"We're trying to finish top in the league," says Jeffery. "We're trying to go to the Super Bowl."\
