RVC Baseball Hoping For Good Weather

Rock Valley College has already had seven games cancelled this season.
ROCKFORD-Local baseball and softball teams are encouraged about the forecast of 60 degree temperatures this weekend. They're tired of having to workout indoors.

The Rock Valley College baseball team has spent a lot of time inside the Physical Education Center this month. The Golden Eagles have already had seven games cancelled due to poor weather. That included a home game Tuesday against Waubonsie.

The Golden Eagles did manage to get in three games earlier this month, but they had to travel to Memphis, Tennessee to do it.

Coach Kevin Vest is anxious to see what his guys can do.

"We've got some sophomore pitchers, and then we've got a lot of freshmen position players that we're really excited about," says Vest. "We had a great recruiting class. Probably our best recruiting class since I've been here."

Former Jefferson J-Hawk Jalen Wimberly will be the ace of the Golden Eagles pitching staff.
